Hardscaping Services on Cape Cod

Patios, walkways, retaining walls, and poolside spaces designed to improve how your Cape Cod property looks, functions, and holds up over time.

Built for Your Property. Built to Last.

Complete Hardscape Design & Installation

Brundage Site Work provides complete hardscaping services for homeowners, builders, and property managers across Cape Cod. From patios and walkways to retaining walls and poolside spaces, our team combines skilled installation with the excavation, grading, drainage, and base preparation required for lasting results.

A successful hardscape project begins below the finished surface. Cape Cod’s sandy soils, changing elevations, high water tables, and seasonal weather require careful planning and proper site preparation. Our team evaluates the full property, not just the area receiving stone or pavers, to help prevent settling, drainage problems, erosion, and premature failure.

Whether you are creating a new outdoor living area or improving an existing property, Brundage Site Work can manage the project from initial excavation through final grading and cleanup.

Our Hardscaping Services

Patios

Create a comfortable, durable outdoor space for relaxing, dining, and entertaining.

We provide complete patio installation, including excavation, grading, drainage, compacted base preparation, material installation, and final site restoration. Each patio is planned around the property’s architecture, elevations, access, and intended use.

Pool Patios & Surrounds

A well-built pool patio should provide a stable, attractive transition between the pool and the surrounding landscape.

Brundage Site Work installs poolside hardscapes with careful attention to drainage, grading, access, and long-term performance. We can coordinate with pool contractors, builders, and other trades to keep the installation aligned with the overall project schedule.

Walkways & Pathways

Connect entrances, patios, driveways, pool areas, and outdoor spaces with a properly prepared walkway.

Our team handles layout, excavation, base preparation, grading, drainage, and installation. Walkways can be designed to create a direct, formal route or a softer path that blends naturally into the surrounding Cape Cod landscape.

Retaining Walls

Retaining walls can stabilize slopes, manage elevation changes, control erosion, and create more usable outdoor space.

We install several types of retaining walls based on the site conditions, design requirements, and desired appearance. These include boncrete retaining walls, boulder and natural stone walls, and landscape timber retaining walls.

For larger or more complex projects, we work from engineered plans and coordinate required inspections.

Outdoor Steps & Landings

Outdoor steps help create safe, practical access across sloped properties and between different elevations.

We install steps and landings as part of patios, walkways, retaining walls, entrances, and larger landscape improvements. Each feature is integrated with the surrounding grades and drainage plan for a cohesive finished result.

Hardscape Excavation & Base Preparation

The visible surface is only one part of a successful hardscape installation.

Our crew provides the excavation, subgrade preparation, compacted base, drainage improvements, and finish grading required beneath patios, walkways, walls, and pool surrounds. Proper preparation helps reduce movement, settling, washout, and uneven surfaces over time.

Grading, Drainage & Site Restoration

Hardscaping often changes how water moves across a property. Without proper grading and drainage, runoff can collect against structures, wash out surrounding soil, or damage finished surfaces.

We incorporate drainage into the overall project plan and complete the final backfilling, grading, loam placement, material spreading, and cleanup needed to tie the new hardscape into the property.

Driveway Aprons & Edging

Improve the transition between the roadway, driveway, and surrounding landscape with a driveway apron and finished edging.

We provide excavation, grading, drainage, base preparation, and installation for driveway entrances and borders. Aprons and edging can help define the driveway, improve curb appeal, reduce material migration, and create a cleaner connection to walkways, lawns, and planting areas.

Paver Driveways & Parking Areas

Paver driveways and parking areas provide a durable, finished alternative to traditional gravel or asphalt surfaces. Our team handles excavation, drainage, compacted base preparation, edge restraint, and paver installation to create a stable surface designed for vehicle traffic. Pavers can be used throughout the driveway or incorporated as decorative borders, parking pads, turnaround areas, and transitions between existing surfaces.
More Than a Finished Surface

Hardscaping That Works With the Landscape

Patios, walkways, and retaining walls should look like they belong on the property, not like they were added without considering the surrounding site.

Brundage Site Work evaluates:

  • Existing and proposed elevations
  • Soil and drainage conditions
  • Water runoff patterns
  • Access for equipment and materials
  • Connections to doors, driveways, pools, and lawns
  • Slope stabilization and erosion concerns
  • Future landscaping or construction plans

This complete site-work perspective allows us to build hardscapes that are attractive, functional, and appropriate for Cape Cod conditions.

Clear Steps. Lasting Results.

Our Landscape Project Process

Every project is different, but our approach remains focused on careful planning, proper preparation, and clear communication.

1

Consultation & Site Visit

We meet with you at the property to review the proposed patio, walkway, retaining wall, pool surround, or other improvement.

Our team evaluates access, elevations, drainage, soil conditions, existing structures, and how the new feature will connect with the rest of the property.

2

Planning & Estimate

We develop a recommended scope based on your goals and the site conditions.

The estimate outlines the required excavation, base preparation, drainage, materials, installation, and restoration work. When plans have been prepared by an engineer, landscape designer, architect, builder, or pool contractor, we review those documents as part of the planning process.

3

Permits & Scheduling

Some retaining walls, drainage improvements, and larger hardscape projects may require engineering, permitting, or inspections.

Once the project requirements are confirmed, we coordinate scheduling and mobilize the appropriate crew and equipment.

4

Excavation & Site Preparation

We remove unsuitable materials, establish the required elevations, prepare the subgrade, and install drainage where needed.

Surrounding areas are protected whenever practical, and the work zone is organized to allow materials and equipment to move safely through the property.

5

Base & Hardscape Installation

The base is placed, graded, and compacted before the selected hardscape materials are installed.

For retaining walls, we complete the required footing or base, drainage, reinforcement, wall construction, and backfill according to the approved design.

6

Final Grading & Cleanup

Once installation is complete, we restore adjoining areas, adjust grades, spread materials, remove debris, and leave the site ready for use or final planting.

What to Expect

Before the project

Before work begins, we confirm the layout, elevations, access, material selections, and any coordination required with other contractors.

If engineering or permits are needed, those requirements must be completed before installation is scheduled. Our team then confirms the project sequence, equipment needs, and anticipated start date.

During & After the Project

Hardscape work may require excavation beyond the immediate footprint of the finished feature so the proper base, drainage, and reinforcement can be installed.

Our team keeps the work organized and communicates about changing conditions or decisions that arise during construction. At completion, we backfill, finish grade, clean the work area, and restore disturbed portions of the property included in the scope.

Patios & Poolside Spaces

Create More Room to Enjoy Your Property

A patio can turn an underused portion of your yard into a functional outdoor living space. Around a pool, the hardscape helps define the area, improve access, manage drainage, and connect the pool to the home and surrounding landscape.

Brundage Site Work can manage the site preparation and installation as part of a larger backyard improvement or coordinate with your pool contractor and builder.

Retaining Solutions for Challenging Cape Cod Properties

Sloped and uneven properties are common across Cape Cod. A properly designed retaining wall can hold back soil, manage elevation changes, reduce erosion, and create flatter areas for patios, lawns, pools, driveways, and other outdoor improvements.

The best wall type depends on the height, soil conditions, site access, engineering requirements, and preferred appearance. Concrete offers significant structural capacity, while boulder and natural stone walls provide a softer New England look. Timber walls can also provide a practical solution for certain landscape applications.

Our team will help determine the appropriate approach based on the property and project plans.
